T his question, more than ever a reality, was raised recently. In no way is the intent of the answer to influence the decisions of those who read it. This is simply the point of view of the Beings of Light, and it is up to each person to trust his or her instinct, to exercise extreme vigilance and careful judgment.
I have a rather delicate question, as it relates to euthanasia. This covers both the practice of free will and a call for compassion.
I am thinking of a friend who is a nurse; she works in palliative care which includes accompanying the dying. Caregiver teams take care of people, some of whom are both terminally ill and at the height of their suffering. These people sometimes require that one exercise one's free will in their place because they do not have the ability to do so. One relies on one's compassion.
What is the position or point of view of the Beings of Light in relation to these people whose suffering is such that they require help in some way to facilitate the transition, since they will go anyway on to the other side? They rely on our compassion because their suffering is untenable; however, at the same time the goal of the health profession is to treat and not to shorten lives. Yet this could help them.
"We completely understand your question and the questioning of your brothers.
"For us, life is sacred. Certainly, we cannot destroy it because we have too much consideration for life, for this life that was created by the Father. However, and this is always the result of your mistakes (at the level of everything you can absorb), when there is no longer hope, when suffering is intolerable, when you can shorten this suffering by an act of love, this really becomes an act of compassion.
"This is absolutely not objectionable at the karmic level if it is truly done with total consciousness of shortening great human suffering. Of course, the person who suffers is experiencing the last days of his or her life, there is no longer hope, he or she is living his or her life plan, and you must ask yourself the following questions: ‘How long will he or she have to experience this suffering? Will experiencing this suffering for three months, six months, bring him or her a lot more?' When there is immense suffering, the person's soul is sometimes forced to leave his or her body, so beyond a certain threshold of suffering, it does not bring anything to the soul at this level of experience! Quite the contrary, the soul becomes impregnated by the suffering which it could have done without.
"So we would like to say this: if there is any human charity, be human, do not let your brothers suffer unduly and do what you do as an act of Love. Do not perform this act lightly!
"When there is no longer hope and there is too much suffering, when this suffering is no longer evolving for the soul, why prolong life?
"It is a position that is difficult for us because we represent total respect, and what we are saying may seem silly. Try to place yourself on a higher plane with another consciousness of life, of death, and , perhaps you will see this with a different understanding, even as total respect for life.
"In a future more or less distant, many measures will be taken to shorten some human suffering. Already, many men have taken these measures and have released many souls in this way. What is the value in having a soul totally impregnated by suffering which is not evolving, even if initially this was because of the law of cause and effect? It need not last for months and months, since you have the capacity to shorten this suffering.
"Why hold on to life when there is no longer any reason? Do you understand what we mean? It is up to you to choose!
"We give you this advice from the other side of the barrier. For us, there is no suffering. We do not know what it is, but we see the distress, the terrible suffering of human beings, because a particular energy emanates from those who suffer that sometimes (in some way) grieves us.
"We have come, sometimes, to take a soul to shorten the suffering because this soul had called for help from the heart. Of course, for human beings this person has simply passed away, but for us it has happened differently.
"This is how we wish to answer to your question."
